Looking for recommendations, or if anyone had experience building a church life, post LC, in the bay area please share with me your experience.
After spending close to 20 years in the LC, all my so-called "companions" are still with the LC.
Just looking for some advice in approaching this church life, post LC.

Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching"

Since you are in the Bay Area, you might know Henry Hon. He was active with home-based ekklesias in the LC, and the basic story is they became too independent and eventually the LC gave him/them the boot a few years ago. I've spoken to Henry and a few others who meet in that home-based way still, and have participated in some Zoom fellowships with that group. You might go to their website and learn about them and find contact info: One Body Life (https://www.onebody.life/about)

I'm in the Bay Area and am post-LC. Are you looking for a LC-derivative (like the oft-repeated recommendation of Henry Hon's corporately-financed "One Body Life" group? Sorry, Sons to Glory... that website creeps me out!) or a fresh start with believers or something else?

When I left the LC meetings I struggled hard about meeting anywhere else -- which is natural, since the whole point of the LC is theirs is the *only* place to meet. From Jerusalem vs. High Places to the "local church equation" (Acts 14:23 + Titus 1:5 = Rev 1:11 ... see? still remember that after 30+ years) and more, it's drilled into us that unless we meet on Lee-sactioned ground we're not discerning the Body. My first non-LC meeting was scary.

But, eventually, I had a break through. I could relax and appreciate just being with believers. (As time went on, I realized I could relax and appreciate just being with people, but let's take one step at a time and not everyone wants to go the same direction I have!).

I'd suggest setting aside the idea that the next place you visit is the LAST place you'll visit. Remove the pressure of the expectation that you can't meet unless you find the "Right Place." Take a chance (be on guard, surely; keep yourself safe) and see if God will meet you where you are, wherever that is. Consider a little "visitation" -- without passing too many judgements on the differences but see if you can find some commonalities, some genuine fellowship.

Make a list of places to visit. Consider places you'd *NEVER* imagine going ... and visit. No pressure on joining or ever going again -- just... explore.

That would be my suggestion :)

Thanks for the suggestion Son of Glory, I'll check out the site.

Thanks for your input "gr8ful"
I am not necessarily looking for a LC derivative, just looking to meet with genuine believers. But meeting some ex-LC members would be cool as well.
I will take your advice and proceed with an open mind. Are you currently meeting locally?

> Are you currently meeting locally?

Currently I meet with believers, but not in a church setting (home or otherwise), so, I think I should say no, I am not meeting.

I am still "in" the LCs, but I've been looking around. I was pointed to a good source (https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/). From what I can tell they have a curated a loose list of good bible standing churches (mostly of reformed teaching). I found a "local church" (non-LR) I like a lot from their listing. If I am ever committed to parachute out from the LR I think I will use them again.
