"What a sad honor to be asked to write a short remembrance of Elliot Miller, Christian writer and long-time editor of The Christian Research Journal. This will appear in that journal.
I'm told that Elliot is in hospice and is near death. He was a stalwart soldier for Christian through his editing and writing. His book, A Crash Course on the New Age, was top notch. I enjoyed working with him since 1986. Elliot told me that I had written more articles for CRJ than anyone outside of staff members. He made my writing and thinking better. See you soon, fellow soldier for Christ and his Kingdom."

Although I vehemently disagreed with Elliot Miller's "reassessment" of The Local Church of Witness Lee in CRI's infamous "We Were Wrong" article of 2009, I do appreciate Miller's contributions to the wider Christian community over the past 40 years. While I can't know for sure, I believe that Elliot was merely following the lead of Hank Hanegraaff, and was probably influenced by the late Gretchen Passantino as well.

I have not heard a recent report regarding Hanegraaffs cancer situation. I do know that it was very serious and thoughts and prayers to Hank and his family. It may be that in the not too distant future CRI will be under the leadership of brothers and sisters who will reconsider the official assessment of the Local Church. I certainly hope so. Maybe we will one day see a CRI article entitled "We Were Wrong About being Wrong".

So Hank is sick? I just got an email from him selling stuff. I guess his marketing, and begging, is run by an algorithm.

We had lunch with HH once in Shanghai when the brothers were wining and dining him. He seemed like a very unsavory, unapproachable fellow. Bad vibes.

I wish Hank no ill will. I hope he beats the cancer.

I've been on his email list since "We Were Wrong." Just to keep an eye on him. From what I see and gather, and as struck me the first time I heard him speak, is a shyster hocking for donations, and selling over-priced product.

At least that's all he's done to me ... in his emails, that are clearly just marketing delivery devices.

Be well Hank ... and please stop your pretense and trickery. Serving mammon is incompatible with the kingdom.

Elliot Miller has passed away, may he rest in peace. (http://www.equip.org/article/in-remembrance-of-elliot-miller-1951-2018/)

I will reiterate what I wrote earlier. I would hope and pray that CRI will return to the solidly fundamental and orthodox institution and bulwark of apologetics and cult awareness that was established by it's founder, Dr. Walter Martin.

To be sure, The Local Church of Witness Lee was not the only aberrant religious sect that Hank Hanegraaff et al punted on, but it is, of course, the one we are most familiar with, so this should be of great concern to most of us former members and worthy of discussion here on this forum.
