The last paragraph compared Gene's ministry to Lee's.
I'm not here to evaluate these two servants' standing with the Lord and obviously as we know they have contributed to a lot of good but also ad fruit to the Church. So I'm posting this so that we can all learn from the history and the mistakes that Christian leaders have made.

"The testimonials from people who have been hurt in 'the local church,'
and those who have been hurt by Edwards's ministry are almost identical."
It was before my time, but what I've heard from brothers who were in a position to know, Edwards tried to "out-Lee" Witness Lee. Needless to say, this didn't go well with The One Master Builder. So Edwards had no choice to slip out quietly in the night...he wasn't the first...and he hasn't been the last.

Interesting article. I think the pattern of both men choosing to not have any peers is telling. It ultimately created the same types of problems.

Thanks for sharing the article. I've read some of Gene Edward's books. The ones I read have some spiritual light, but drifted focus away from our Lord of glory (in my opinion). Nice to be forewarned. His time in TLR preceded mine.
The following was in the opening post:
. . . contributed to a lot of good but also bad fruit to the Church. . . It is one thing to determine that certain teachings may not be the best. Or that they may not be so inspired.
But when the writer is stated as having contributed bad fruit, there probably needs to be some rethinking.
As I recall, it is stated that a spring (or well) cannot bring forth both good and bad water. It is either all good or all bad.
So if you are seeing bad things issuing from the well or spring, it is time to question everything coming out of it.
