I was in the military in the Monterey Bay area and had established the beginnings of what became known as the Church in Santa Cruz which grew to nearly 200 (mostly young people) but who were then pressured into leaving San Cruz because of one Carl Hammond and Paul Ma who were, at the time, considered "of the enemy"
That's not how Carl Hammond told the story. His story is that he walked the beach and brought brothers to the Lord and establish 3 elders from them. So his story has him establishing the C. in Santa Cruz ... and its elders.

And if Hammond and Paul Ma were "of the enemy," they never once spoke a negative word about Witness Lee, that I ever heard. It was obvious that Hammond was not aligned with Lee. But not so obvious with Paul Ma ... he seemed to be a buddy with Lee.

And both, especially Ma, knew the dirt on Lee, and Nee.

From what I saw of Hammond he was an unapologetic A-hole ... and proud of being a arrogant know it all. But brothers loved him. He drank beer after the meetings.

I realize most of you are familiar with Doug's testimony, but I felt for the sake of new ones and the need to have more of the stories in one spot it would be useful. I can confirm Doug's Daystar exploits and Doug worked for me about 10 years after he left the local church and we had some amazing adventures together. I love Doug and his family and wish them the best. Their youngest son got married this week.

Amen to Doug's testimony. It takes me back to the days when my head was full of fanciful dreams and fairy tales ... that I was in the very movement of the Spirit on earth. I was very impressionable back then ... taking it in hook, line, and sinker.:borg:

Actually Brother we all are in God's move. He is calling us to Himself.

Amen brother Terry. I was just telling a brother that about an hour ago on cell phones.

But I thought those dreams about the local church ... which turned out wasn't a movement of God, but the movement of men.

Joh 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
