The brother who notified me of this added:
----------------------------------------------------------
" Probably LSM is circulating this document & interpreting it as a further vindication of Witness Lee, LSM & their Local Church movement.
I guess one question to ask is -- Do you think the US House of Representatives will ever "recognize" Witness Lee? "

No, the question at hand right now is : did they really recognize Watchman Nee? And can it be proven?:allears:
As I already pointed out on the other forum (actually broke my silence for such a small thing), this is one of those multitude of things read into the record after a regular session, in this case by Rep. Christopher Smith of New Jersey. It is in the "Extensions of Remarks" which might even suggest that it wasn't even read in front of a few stragglers in the room, but added to the record as if actually read even though no actual reading took place.
In any case, it is not a referendum or any such thing. It received no votes and therefore can only be called the recognition of Watchman Nee by Mr Smith.

This is where I did an independent search:
http://thomas.loc.gov/bss/
which is where I got the link that is at the very top of the post. It is the first "as posted here" link there. The second one is obtained from the Local Church website. Where they got that fancy pdf version of it I don't know.
In regards to Mike's post:
But note that this was not a resolution voted upon by even one member of the House. Instead, it is a reading by Representative Christopher H. Smith of New Jersey. There is nothing indicating the number of fellow Congressmen in chambers at this point in time.I think the thing to keep in mind is the difference between being recognized "IN Congress" as opposed to being recognized "BY Congress" If I'm not mistaken I believe some congressman tried to have Michael Jackson recognized BY congress, by way of some sort of resolution or something - I think it got struck down by the Speaker.
Anyway, does anybody know this Christopher Smith of New Jersey? I'm just curious.

that's nice
that's nice
Yes, it is nice. I always look for the official "Congressionally recognized" ticket in any preacher's cv package.
I just went back to look at the link in "lastadam.com" and had some fun looking around the site. Some interesting things to view. They have the banners for the summer 2009 training, but the last update to the daily readings was in February 2007. I also found the 16 prayer points that was recently posted here.
And the brief information about the Rebellion in Toronto was so terse that there was no way to know anything about what happened there except that they called it a rebellion and simply dismissed those who were of the original church in Toronto as a denomination. Since they do not recognize their own existence as a denomination, that gave them the right to refer to themselves as the church in Toronto (even if they could not officially use the name).
This should be linked off of the Christian equivalent of ComedyCentral.com. It would be hilariaous if it weren't so real and close to home.

My question is What does Watchman Nee or any spiritual figure other than our LORD JESUS CHRIST.........have to do with CONGRESS ?? Unless we have Americans held captive in China, I don't understand why his name and his collected works have to be brought up in the U.S. Congress. Our country is in disarray politically and spiritually. I don't understand why Mr Smith went to Washington with that statement. I would have felt the same way if Smith had used Billy Graham's name instead of Nee's.

You mean 'the Lord's Recovery' movement....otherwise, My thoughts EXACTLY. I can only imagine...
And regarding:

Ready for this. I can't remember if I posted on this already or not. I know I argued with myself if I ought to or not...
I recently ushered at a Joyce Meyer 3 day conference. 'Delirious' was their Praise/Worship band. The music was wayyyyyyyyy too loud for my liking BUT for one of the songs, they flashed pictures of spiritual fathers and mothers from yonder days....going back to the 1700s it seemed.
Now Joyce has mentioned NEE in a few of her teachings over the years. When I heard her mention him about 4 yrs ago, I was taken by surprise. She didn't elaborate, just mentioned she had read one of his books.
So it did not surprise me when Nee's picture was flashed on the big screens. But I sure was FLOORED when they flashed a picture of Witness LEE along side Nee's pic !!! They flashed all the pictures twice so I paid extra close attention to make sure it was LEE I saw on the big screen. and Yeppers..it sure was.
Neither of them, nor any of the spiritual 'forefathers' were mentioned at all during the 3 day conference.
Just passing this along.
